The wishes of mothers and peer guides have been considered, resulting in some changes to the times and locations of the groups for spring 2025.
Varissuo Group has been rescheduled to start slightly later to accommodate, for example, studying mothers. The group meets every Friday at Varissuo Girls’ House (Katteluksenkatu 4, Turku) from 16:00 to 18:00. This multilingual group primarily speaks Finnish and English, with Kurdish and Farsi as support languages.
Raisio group continues at the same location and time, meeting weekly at Raisio Satelliitti (Hulvelankatu 2, Raisio) on Mondays from 13:30 to 15:30. The primary language spoken in this group is Albanian.
City Center Group has moved from Manilla to the premises of International House Turku (Linnankatu 31, Turku). The new group starts on March 11, 2025, and will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 13:30 to 15:30. Welcome to the new and improved space, both new and returning participants! This multilingual group primarily speaks Finnish and English, with Ukrainian and Russian as support languages.
Halinen Group is a new group that started earlier this year! It is open to all language groups and meets at Mustikka (Kardinaalinkatu 3 P, Turku) approximately once a month on Fridays from 18:00 to 21:00 on the following dates: February 28, April 4, April 25, and May 16.
The Pilot Mothet Project supports immigrant stay-at-home mothers in discovering their strengths, finding employment, and practicing the Finnish language. The groups are led by peer guides, also known as luotsit. Children are welcome to join the groups!
